Punta Cana is characterised by its wonderful warm waters and white sandy beaches that cover over 50 kilometres along the entire east coast of the Dominican Republic, where you can do many water activities and enjoy the waves of the Caribbean Sea or the incredible coral reefs that surround the Dominican coast. Below, we’ve provided all the information you need about one of the best beaches in Punta Cana: Playa Blanca.

The extensive coastline in Punta Cana opens up a huge range of possibilities, therefore it is important that you know what each beach has to offer and the characteristics that set them apart. When making your choice, it will be very important to consider which activities you want to do, or the ability to do them as a family or as a couple.

What to do in Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is a public beach that can be accessed by car, after having identified your personal information and that of your vehicle, since access is restricted. It is a small part of the Dominican coast, characterised by the calmness of its waters, and is considered one of the best places for practicing water sports, the most common of which are kitesurfing, paddle boarding, diving or snorkelling.

Another of the main attractions of Playa Blanca is the fact that it’s full of coral reefs, which allow you to get an incredible up-close look at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea, which means that the beach is a great option for snorkelling, with the coast in this area being very calm and relatively shallow.

Due to its geographical location, it is a beach that is exposed to the wind, which means that you can practice kitesurfing or windsurfing.

Due to the calmness of its waters, it is considered one of the best options in Punta Cana for enjoying the Caribbean Sea as a family with children. Without a doubt, an attraction worth visiting as a family in Punta Cana

Playa Blanca vs Playa Bávaro

Punta Cana is home to countless beaches with fine sand and calm waters, which means that you have numerous options to choose from. Playa Blanca has the added plus of being a publicly owned beach, however, this sometimes means that the beach can be quite busy, and that you won’t be able to fully enjoy the gentle Caribbean breeze. But in Playa Bávaro, you can enjoy all the comforts of a private beach, declared one of the best beaches in the world by UNESCO, with the added bonus of all the facilities and services that are available through the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino.

Just like in Playa Blanca, at Playa Bávaro you can dive into its turquoise waters, while enjoying the natural coral reef; with the ability to access the beach on foot from your hotel, one of the greatest assets of Costa Bávaro.

In Playa Bávaro, you will also get to enjoy the best selection of five-star hotel complexes. Therefore, it is essential that you stay at a resort that helps you to relax with complete peace of mind, and that inspires you to seek out unique experiences; everything you could want during your holiday on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. One great option is the Lopesan Costa Bávaro, which is located in an ideal environment that is tailored to each visitor, whether you’re coming on a family trip with kids, or if you’re looking for privacy and exclusivity as a couple.

From Playa Bávaro, you can easily access the activities offered in other spots on the island, while enjoying first-hand all the sports and family activities offered at Lopesan Costa Bávaro.

Where is Playa Blanca located?

Playa Blanca is located on the easternmost tip of the island, near the Punta Cana International Airport, and 20 kilometres from the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, meaning it is a good option to keep in mind when visiting Punta Cana. Playa Blanca’s coast is close to Playa Bávaro, acting as a natural border between the former and Macao Beach.

How to get to Playa Blanca

To reach the shores of Playa Blanca, you need to travel by rental car or taxi, since it is accessed through a residential complex and public transport in the area isn’t allowed to make a stop here.

Once in Playa Blanca, parking in the car park is completely free, so renting a vehicle from Playa Bávaro and accessing Playa Blanca from Lopesan is an option to consider, since the distance is less than 20 kilometres.
