One of the projects that we get most excited about every year is planning our summer holidays, regardless of whether you’re going with your partner, with your family or perhaps on an adventure with friends.

The months of June, July and August are the ones we usually choose for our special summer holiday trip. There is still time to plan the best getaway to Punta Cana for your summer holidays 2022!

These few months, between June and October, are the warmest in Punta Cana. The daytime temperature is 31ºC and the average annual humidity is 80%, meaning the “feels-like” temperature is actually higher than what the thermometer reads. The nights are very pleasant since it drops 10ºC from the daytime temperature.

In order to do a good job of preparing your trip, you have to be familiar with the place, know how to get there, what weather you’re looking for, the accommodation options at the hotel or resort, the different activities and outings and, if it’s part of your plans, the different ways to have some fun!

One of the most sought-after proposals is travelling to the Caribbean in summer 2022. As you know, some of the top rated beaches in the world are found here, specifically in Punta Cana, in the southeast of the Dominican Republic, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.

It has thus become a dreamy destination, with paradisiacal beaches, colonial architecture and turquoise seas. A region with more than 32 kilometres of beaches, called La Costa del Coco, which runs from the Bávaro area to Punta Cana.

You’re probably already imagining yourself staying at one of these places!

WHAT PUNTA CANA CAN OFFER YOU IN SUMMER 2022

One of the most popular destinations to travel to is Punta Cana in summer, a heavenly place if there ever was one. Not only is it popular for its warm seas, but you can also discover its many other treasures.

Knowing all the options that this destination can offer you will allow you to organise the entire trip from start to finish.

  • You can go on full-day excursions and get to know places as incredible as the nearby islands: Saona Island or Catalina Island. You won’t be able to decide which one is more amazing!
  • You will have the opportunity to explore the jungle with the Three Eyes National Park, full of lagoons and rich biodiversity. The scenic beauty that you will discover here will remind you that your summer in Punta Cana is impossible to beat.
  • Be sure to try its appetising cuisine. You’ll be surprised by its flavours, the fresh fish and shellfish caught directly from the sea, the juices and varied fruits that are everywhere you look… There is something special about its gastronomy, as it mixes the traditions and customs of Spanish, African and Taíno cuisine, making it incredibly varied and tasty.
  • One of the most memorable experiences that most travellers in the Dominican Republic are interested in doing is to explore its seabed. You can go snorkelling or even try a basic scuba diving course for the first time, the best way to explore all of the natural wealth that this sea can offer you with its coral reefs and the variety of exotic and striking fish. You’ll be sure to have an unforgettable experience that you’ll want to repeat every day you’re there, since you’ll discover a whole new world every time you dive in.
  • Did you know that Punta Cana and Playa Bávaro have the best selection of exclusive resorts where you can stay? Within the wide range of hotels and resorts and the services they offer, we’ll tell you about what other things you can do this summer 2022 in Punta Cana, in addition to sunbathing.

ACTIVITIES BESIDES THE BEACH

The beaches in Punta Cana and, in general, on the Dominican coast are wonderful and will quickly seduce you. But you’ll also be surprised by some of the other places that we recommend and that you cannot miss. It is worth foregoing the idyllic beaches for at least one day to venture out and discover all the biodiversity that this Caribbean island offers you.

Of all these places that we are going to recommend, it’s very likely that you’ll be able to organise the majority of these outings from your hotel or resort.

Most are day trips where you’ll have access to everything you need to enjoy the activity worry-free. At your accommodation, there will be a pick-up, transfer and return service for travellers, so all you have to think about is wearing sunscreen, appropriate clothing and the right footwear and having a good time.

Among the most interesting places to visit is the Los Haitises National Park in Samaná Bay or Saona Island, where you’ll discover beautiful beaches, mangroves and the jungle. Quite a spectacle for the senses. Among its wildlife you’ll find manatees, pelicans, various reptiles, such as boa constrictors, and sea turtles. A truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Another highly recommended nature excursion is the one that takes you on a trip to the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve. This protected natural park has 600 hectares of tropical forests and freshwater lagoons where you can swim, with mangroves and clear water springs. Nature in its purest form.

If you want to experience an adventure under the sea, then you can go snorkelling. Or, if you’re even more adventurous, you can go diving in the coral reefs and visit the underwater caves and shipwrecks.

Other sports activities include windsurfing, kitesurfing, parasailing or kayaking, with varying levels of adrenaline according to what you’re looking for.

The Colonial City of Santo Domingo – Dominican Republic

Are you passionate about history and culture? Then you should plan a visit to Santo Domingo, the first European colonial city in the Americas. Known as the city of “firsts”, it has the first cathedral to be built in the New World and also has the first hospital built by the Spanish, as well as the first American house where Christopher Columbus lived.

This summer 2022, you won’t be able to find a better option for a unique holiday.
